Острог је мушки манастир, смештен уз вертикалну литицу на планини Острог, на 15 км од Никшића. Име Острог потиче од старијег облика српске речи оштар. Манастир Острог је основао херцеговачки митрополит, Свети Василије Острошки ( 1610-1671). Горњи део манастира чине Храм Часнога крста и Храм Ваведења Пресвете Богородице, где и почивају мошти Светог Василија Острошког. У доњем делу манастира се налази Храм Свете Тројице. Између горњег и доњег манастира налази се црква посвећена Светом новомученику Станку. Ходочасници из целог света, без обзира на веру, посећују манастир током целе године и то је једно од најпосећенијих верских места на Балкану.

Ostrog is a men’s monastery, nested into a vertical cliff on the Mount of Ostrog, 15 km from Nikšić. The name Ostrog comes from the older form of the Serbian word sharp. The Ostrog Monastery was founded by the Metropolitan of Herzegovina, Saint Basil of Ostrog (1610-1671). The upper part of the monastery consists of the Temple of the Holy Cross and the Temple of the Presentation of the Most Holy Mother of God, where the relics of Saint Basil of Ostrog rest. In the lower part of the monastery is the temple of the Holy Trinity. Between the Upper and Lower Monasteries there is a church dedicated to the Holy Martyr Stanko. Pilgrims from all over the world, regardless of their religion, visit the monastery throughout the year. It is one of the most visited religious places in the Balkans.
